Bio: Martin Sullivan (Director/Botanist)

What is a Botanist anyway? It can mean many things to different people. Martin's not bookish, he doesn't wear a cardigan, or hang out in herbariums. He doesn't dwell in the detail, he's interested in landscapes, how things fit together and why. He's a spatial ecologist. Which means he explores plant communities, understands the patterns, textures and relationships and then makes awesome maps.

He's passionate about biodiversity, and affecting positive change. He wants to change the way the world values biodiversity.

He's much more than your run of the mill ecologist. He's an effective communicator, able to manage multiple projects with large project teams, while getting dusty in the field always seeking to understand the landscape and critical issues which effect each project. You can't beat the experience of an ecologist who runs the show, but is also a subject matter expert. Its a winning combination which gives power to negotiation with regulators.

As a practitioner with 20 years' experience, he understands regulations and assessment frameworks and the importance of building strong relationships with all project stakeholders. He's accredited to apply the Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM).

Martin is respected by his clients, peers and regulators in both the environmental approvals and biodiversity offset space. With a clear head for negotiation, and a strong technical background, project issues are identified upfront and swiftly resolved.

With a background in technology, Martin thinks spatially and can rapidly visualise environmental data.

Martin approaches every project with a technological and innovation and efficiency mindset. This isn't a 'value add', using technology and innovative approaches should be a given, and Martin will always seek to do things better and faster to deliver better project and environmental outcomes.
